I Am Back with Thrilling News!
Guess What?
I have a solo exhibition that opens in 8 days!
“Inner Natures” will be at the Janice Mason Art Museum in Cadiz, KY from August 19- October 1, 2022. As this summer has unexpectedly been intensely challenging and full, I am just now sharing this news. The show was originally planned for 2020, but as we have coped with the pandemic, we have all had to persistently practice patience! So without further ado, here we go—
Not only will I be opening the exhibit with an artist talk at 4pm (CDT) on Friday, August 19, but will be offering my first workshop on SoulCollage®️ the following morning, August 20, from 8:30a-12:30p. YAY! Having completed my certification as SoulCollage®️ Facilitator this past spring, I am thrilled to be able to share this powerful and incredibly fun modality with you. NO ART SKILLS NECESSARY— this is about intuition, reflection, and connecting with your inner wisdom experienced in a supportive and safe environment. Come check it out! (And if you are not close enough to attend, rest assured that I will be offering more in the future!).
The workshop and materials fee is $30— a first-time offering made to be accessible (scholarships are available, as I strongly feel that healing arts be within reach for those who want to experience them. Just let us know if there is a need).
You may register by calling JMAM at (270)924-3911 or contact me via email @michellehaydenart@gmail.com— seats are limited, so sign up asap if you are interested in joining me— I would love to see you there!
This is the first SoulCollage®️ card that I made during my certification training for Sensorimotor Art Therapy.
“I Am One Who reminds you to carry that which is enlivening and tender, trading the boulders strapped to your back which weigh you down and thwart your ability to grow fully into yourself in this world.”
What will you discover? That is half the fun— the mystery of what will unfold and the emergence of meaning that comes from your own mind and heart.
Also new will be several recently completed sculptures and two-dimensional work that I am looking forward to revealing. There is nothing like the evolution of making art and exploring the cross-over with other materials, seeing how the thread continues to weave through in meaning and physical expression…
This labor-intensive process of creating sculpture (as if my other sculptures come right together, haha) gives me plenty of time to just be as I build, layer, and carve, watching it return to an evolved form of the original shape. Isn’t that how we refine our own lives as we age, carving back what we no longer need and refining the parts that we want to let shine?
Despite many other updates that are happening, I am going to keep this one about the upcomging show, except for a special opportunity that will be happening in the two days between trips to deliver my artwork:
My first conference presentation will be happening at the Kentucky Hospice and Palliative Care Conference on August 16 in Lexington, KY. I will be sharing an introduction to Sensorimotor Art Therapy and SoulCollage®️ to be used for both staff support and patients/families in hospice. What an honor!
This will be part of afulfilling the KY Rescue Artist Grant I was awarded in January and I am very thankful to the Bluegrass Care Navigators for encouraging me to submit for presentation, as well as to the National Endowment for the Arts and the Kentucky Arts Council for their funding. Please send any extra ease for this experience— I will soak it up as I leap into this evolving area of sharing my healing arts practice!
Stay tuned— next week I will share my artist statement for, “Inner Natures”, so keep an eye out in your inbox! It is a privilege to be able to share these bits with you no matter where in the world you reside. After all, we are all connected.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE EVOLUTION OF MY ARTWORK AND HEALING PRACTICE!
LOVE, MICHELLE ❤️
