Always drawn to the dappled purples that spot orchid petals, the process of carving and coloring these patterns becomes a labor of love and meditation. Those bits that make us unique must be handled with care, as we appreciate these fragile qualities in others and ourselves.

A macro photograph was printed onto archival paper, layered and fused repeatedly with 15 layers of encaustic medium, carved end-to-end, and colored with powdered pigment before being mounted onto a birch panel that sits off the wall when hung.
