Life shapes us with each experience. As the years pass, we gain experience navigating all kinds of waters. Sometimes, those waters break us into new pieces. When we work hard to heal and use the energy of our growth to move forward, we may find ourselves completely reimagined in form, perhaps further evolved into a more dynamic shape. This sculpture grew out of that very process following an unfortunate accident with its original form. After many attempts to salvage and repair the wreckage, I realized I needed to deconstruct it down to the bones and begin again. I sawed the branches apart and integrated them into this beautiful, weathered, dense piece of driftwood. They grew beyond their original boundaries in a way I could not have imagined without the deconstruction. What horizons do you wish to grow beyond?
