We are all called to rise to face adversity at different times in our lives, and our present world offers more opportunities than ever. Each of us has strengths and qualities that help ourselves and one another. This swallowtail butterfly was photographed in a biology collection at Berea College and has been enlivened once again.

This sculptural wall piece was created with a macro photograph printed onto textile and layered with encaustic medium that was fused between every layer, carved and cut to shape, sculpted and integrated into the circular panel that was darkened through the Japanese process of Shou Sugi Ban. The background coloration of the beeswax was created using a torch over powdered pigment to create an organic field that mirrored the energy of the butterfly. It is wired and ready to hang on your wall.
