Wood and its multitude of surfaces and patterns have always intrigued me. Delving into the swirling pattern of line in this wood grain brought to mind images of tiny spores leaping out into new life. Created with tiny wires dipped into wax and pigmented as they unfurled upward, reminded me of the spiral of life that repeats itself throughout all stages and forms of life. May it bring a sense of possibility for the new.
Printed onto archival paper and layered with molten encaustic medium fused repeatedly between layers, meticulously carved and pigmented end-to-end, tiny wire inclusions were incorporated to create rhythm and depth in this sculptural piece that comes alive off the wall. This piece was mounted onto a birch panel, ready to hang on your wall.
