This piece was created by printing a photograph of our redbud tree onto Japanese paper, layering it with multiple coats of encaustic medium fused between every layer, hand-carving over every inch (much like a woodcut), and recoloring it with powdered pigment. It communicates the hope that returns with each spring and the delicate beauty of the fleeting redbud, reminding us of the preciousness of each moment.
