"Sacred Incubation"
Encaustic sculpture, ( (24 x 17 x 18 in), pedestal piece
Materials: beeswax, damar resin, thermoplastic material (FOSSshape)
This sculpture was a labor of love. Over a handmade armature of wood, I layered textile and formed it over the billowing shapes, eventually layering it with natural beeswax in coats too numerous to count. The wax was inches thick, as the textile layer was mere millimeters. I think I may have removed almost as much as I had layered! As I removed and refined every curve, inside and out, I reflected how similar this is to the process of emerging into our truest selves as we navigate this life. We are worth the work of excavation to reveal our truest selves!
