Giclee print: 230 gsm matte archival art paper
Greeting card: Laser print cards using 100# matte paper with envelope included
This vessel was made from mulberry paper layered with 40+ coats of encaustic medium and embedded beeswax-covered wire enabling further strength and form. The surface design was made using a batik tjanting tool and painted with powdered pigment that was fused into the beeswax tips. As this large hollow piece was being formed, I reflected on how much we hold inside ourselves— life experience, dreams, loss, emotions, and gifts that have yet to be expressed in the world—a delicate balance of openness and containment. Certainly, we can respect ourselves and one another for all that we hold.
