“Manifestation”

Pouring energy into the things we care about brings growth. Drawn to the blues and oranges of some of my favorite native butterflies, I created “Manifestation,” exemplifying the concept of inward intention becoming outwardly visible. Making these swallowtails emerge from the log brought a smile to my face, recalling times I have seen swarms of them that could only be explained as magical. May this sculpture connect to what lies within you, waiting to emerge into the form you most want in your life.

Created with foundational macro photographs of swallowtail butterflies that were printed onto textile and layered repeatedly with encaustic medium and fused between every layer, hand-carved to render organic detail, cut and sculpted to shape, colored with powdered pigment to bring them more fully alive, and wired into found wood from our land, they appear to be emerging into a new cycle of spring. This is mounted for wall-hanging, though could also be a table piece.
